Highland Park is a city-center neighborhood in Denver, Colorado just north of the downtown area. Bounded by West 38th Ave. to the north, a Union Pacific Railroad to the east, Speer Blvd. to the south and Federal Blvd. to the west, the area is considered one of the most sought after city-center neighborhoods.
Due to the increased accessibility to downtown Denver, along with the rich history of the area, Highland has become an attractive neighborhood for those wishing to live in an urban area of the city. There is a mix of real estate options available in Highlands. Most new real estate is in the form of high rise condominium and loft units, however there are still a considerable amount of detached single family homes nestled throughout the neighbrohood.
Highland Park is a vibrant and hip area that is full of trendy bars, unique shops, chill bistros and much more! Residents of Highland enjoy the walkability of the neighborhood and can routinely be seen strolling to cafes, restaurants and shops. The area is also bicycle friendly, attracting those who want to ditch the car but still quickly make their way around town.
The Highland Bridge offers direct access to the lower downtown district of Denver which opens up a world of amenities. That being said, Highland has become an attractive location for many businesses and more to set up shop.
A number of parks and recreation areas are dotted throughout the Highland Park neighborhood acting as a great location to meet up with friends, take the dog for a stroll or let the kids burn off some energy.
There are a handful of schools located in the Highland Park neighborhood. Managed and operated by the Denver County 1 school district, these schools offer excellent education, a warm and a warm and welcoming environment that fosters a love of learning.
Bryant Webster Elementary School is located on Quivas Street in the heart of the Highland Park neighborhood and offers dual language education for students from pre-kindergarten through grade 8. Roughly 450 students attend the school with a low teacher to student ratio of 1 to 14. Those who attend Bryan Webster are taught in both English and Spanish with the goal of having bi-lingual students.
Sandoval Elementary School is also a dual language school located in the Highland neighborhood that offers education for students in kindergarten through grade 6. Students enjoy and thrive in the inclusive and welcoming environment and learn a multitude of subjects in both English and Spanish. There are currently just under 430 students who attend Academia Ana Marie Sandoval Elementary School.
There are no middle schools directly in the Highland Park neighborhood, however, less than 5 minutes to the west is Skinner Middle School which provides education for students from grades 6 through grade 8. With the goal for academic excellence for all students, Skinner Middle School strives to provide a safe and engaging academic experience.
North High School is set in the southwest area of Highland Park and is a historic high school that provides education for students from grade 9 through grade 12. One of the original 4 highschools in Denver, North High School has been in continuous operation since its inception in 1883. There are just over 1,200 students that attend North High School.
